Thanks to the participation of 170 benevolent members, Saturday 5th May 2018 was a success for the Monaco Red Cross, as the 3,000 visitors enabled the organisation to raise over 72,000 Euros, equivalent to the cost of surgical procedures for 7 children thanks to Monaco Collectif Humanitaire.

Monaco, 8th May 2018 – This year, over 3 000 people turned up last Saturday to take advantage of the “good deals” offered by the Monaco Red Cross at its annual charity sale.  Thanks to them, the total profit raised during the event amounts to 72 523 Euros this year, i.e. over 13% more than last year.  The aim of the day event, with a smile theme, was to celebrate World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, which takes place across the globe on 8th May (Henri Dunant’s birthday, the founder of this international movement).

Impressive figures: 530 cartons of products sold; over 10 000 items of clothing, furniture, household linen and other articles. Over 1 000 “World Red Cross Day” shopping bags purchased, over 2 000 tombola tickets sold, 170 benevolent members working at twenty or so themed stands

The entirety of the record proceeds will go to Monaco Collectif Humanitaire, of which the Monaco Red Cross is member, and which will enable children suffering from serious heart pathologies to have surgery.  The funds will enable the Collectif to offer treatment to a further 7 children, who will be cared for by families in the region before and after the operation.

The 29 tombola winners, whose names are listed on the Monaco Red Cross website, were drawn at 4 pm and took home fantastic prizes.

The “entertainment” area, where volunteers organised various games and activities for 3 to 12 year olds, met with great success. Overall,  78 children, all of whom left with a “certificate” and small gifts, were accompanied by the Monaco Red Cross.

The Monaco Red Cross would like to express their warmest thanks to all its devoted volunteers and partners, as well as all the extremely generous members of the public who once again this year came to enjoy this very special day.
